Amaterasu Perfume Oil

from $4.50

Notes: golden sandalwood incense, rice milk, bright cardamom, amber, dry wheat, and sunflowers

Amaterasu is the Shinto goddess of the sun and the universe, and the mythical ancestress of the Imperial House of Japan. She illuminates all things and oversees the movement of day into night, representing order and purity, two of the most important concepts of Shinto. Once, Amaterasu abandoned the world to hide in the Cave of Heaven, and to trick her into returning, the other gods created music and dance to tempt her out, returning light to the world.

An opening of bright cardamom gives way to a delightful blend of golden sandalwood and creamy rice milk. Rich amber and the nutty, grassy scent of dried wheat create a soft base, while a sunflower accord uplifts with its lightly floral, citrusy, herbal, hay-like notes. Comforting, balanced, and unique -- this is sure to be a new favorite!

Thanks to our @poesiechat Facebook group members for their amazing celestial goddess perfume ideas! This fragrance was the winner from our latest fan-sourced fragrance. Join us to chat about perfume, tea, and books and someday you might see your perfume idea come to life, too!

Important message for our beloved customers:

Alcohol-based EDPs can only be shipped within the contiguous US (we’re sorry, Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii friends! We wish it wasn't so but we have to abide by the shipping rules.) If you are outside of the contiguous US and order alcohol-based EDPs, your order will be placed on hold and we’ll contact you to resolve the issue.

Packaging may vary due to supply chain issues. The twist-top apothecary bottles we're currently using for 5 mls actually hold more than 7mls, so your bottle will not be full to the top. Each bottle is measured to ensure you get
at least 5 mls of perfume oil (there's more than 5 mls in there, we promise!). We are phasing out rollerballs, so if you don't see a 5 ml rollerball option for a certain scent that means it has sold out.

Thank you for your understanding!
