Marie Antoinette’s perfumer, Fargeon, designed a scent so that she could take the essence of her favorite place wherever she went. The long list of natural ingredients included violet, jasmine, lily, and tuberose, all of which were planted in the elaborate gardens at her estate. Many of the visitors who were lucky enough to receive an invitation to Petit Trianon later mentioned the scent of flowers in the air when describing the delights of their time there.

Rather than trying to recreate a historical recipe, we’ve tried to capture what Marie Antoinette loved about Petit Trianon -- its freshness and simplicity. Our version includes the flowers she so adored, particularly violet which vied with roses as her favorite, but green and wood notes add a sparkling touch of lightness.
