Granada: Spanish leather, cinnamon sticks and dried clove, geranium and neroli, roasted vanilla and tonka beans

from 6.50

Inspired by Katherine of Aragon

Notes: Spanish leather, cinnamon sticks and dried clove, geranium and neroli, roasted vanilla and tonka bean

History as all but obliterated the vision of Katherine as a beautiful and loved young queen, her happy time with Henry after many long difficult years of being caught between her royal parents in Spain and King Henry VII. Instead we know her as the woman Henry VIII tried to erase so that he could marry his new love Anne Boleyn and get the male heir Katherine couldn’t seem to give him despite her many pregnancies during their marriage.

But Katherine would not be erased. She did not go quietly. In fact, she never stopped signing her letters “Katherine the Queen.” Named for her personal symbol and the city where she spent happier childhood years, Granada is both soft and strong, like the woman herself.

Spanish leather is a luxurious blend of pliable leather and the essences traditionally used to cure it. Florals like geranium and neroli, spices, herbs, and even fruit were used in the tanning process and the scented leather produced was used not only for gloves and boots but also for scenting stationery and clothing. Our interpretation starts off with a burst of spice and dries to something soft, sensual, and somewhat floral. If you like leather or vintage scents, you’ll definitely want to give this one a try.
